Children on the sand at Brighouse Bay in Galloway, painted by E. A. Hornel in 1909 in paint laid on so thickly the surface is almost relief.

Hornel lived at Kirkcudbright and painted this stretch of coast for forty years. He had been one of the Glasgow Boys, and with George Henry he spent eighteen months in Japan in 1893 — the flattened space and high horizon here never quite left him afterwards.

Printed to order on heavyweight archival paper with a narrow white border that keeps the painting's own proportions. Framed in black, wood or white, or unframed for your own frame. Shipped worldwide.
