Spring, the Garden, Villa Sylvia by John Lavery Art Print
£32.00
A garden on the Riviera in spring, painted quickly and left alone. John Lavery worked at the Villa Sylvia at Cap Ferrat in the years before the First World War.
It is holiday painting in the best sense: no commission, no sitter to please, nothing at stake except getting the light down before it moved. The brushwork is looser here than in anything he showed in London.
Lavery was one of the Glasgow Boys long before he was a society portraitist, and pictures like this are where the Glasgow training still shows.
Printed to order on heavyweight archival paper with a narrow white border that keeps the painting's own proportions. Framed in black, wood or white, or unframed for your own frame. Shipped worldwide.
