The Green Coat by John Lavery Art Print
£48.00
A woman stands full length in a green coat, and Lavery paints the coat as carefully as the face. The Green Coat is one of his society portraits.
He had learned in Glasgow and Paris how to build a figure out of a few long strokes, and by the time he was painting London he could put a whole person on canvas without ever appearing to work at it. The ease is the technique.
Lavery was born in Belfast and made in Glasgow, one of the Glasgow Boys before he was anybody's court painter.
Printed to order on heavyweight archival paper with a narrow white border that keeps the painting's own proportions. Framed in black, wood or white at 30 × 45 cm and 60 × 90 cm; the 40 × 60 cm sheet is unframed, for your own frame. Shipped worldwide.
