Wind, light and children, painted so loosely that the figures nearly dissolve. William McTaggart painted Spring in the manner that made him the most original Scottish painter of his century.

He was doing this in Kintyre before most people in Britain had heard the word Impressionism, and he arrived at it on his own — painting outdoors, at speed, letting the canvas show through because the weather would not wait.

McTaggart was a Campbeltown crofter's son who spoke Gaelic before English. Nobody in Scotland painted air better.

Printed to order on heavyweight archival paper with a narrow white border that keeps the painting's own proportions. Framed in black, wood or white, or unframed for your own frame. Shipped worldwide.
