Wind coming across open ground, painted so loosely that the grass, the cloud and the light are all made of the same strokes. William McTaggart in the 1890s, at full stretch.
McTaggart was born in Aros in Kintyre to Gaelic-speaking parents and painted the west coast his whole life. Critics compared him to the French Impressionists; he had barely seen their work. He turned down London flat: “I would rather be first in my own country than second in any other.”
Printed to order on heavyweight archival paper with a narrow white border that keeps the painting's own proportions. Framed in black, wood or white, or unframed for your own frame. Shipped worldwide.
